Cumanda Angustia MSN, RN, FNP-C

Secretary, NACLI

With over 25 years nursing experience, Ms. Cumanda Angustia is a dedicated Nurse Practitioner, leader, and advocate for underserved communities. Inspired by her mother’s passion for helping others, and her work with high-risk families and youth in her community, she has devoted her career to improving healthcare access, serving as a role model in her community and mentoring future generations of nurses, including her daughter, a newly graduated Nurse Practitioner. Ms. Angustia holds an A.A.S. from LaGuardia Community College, a B.S. from Hunter Bellevue School of Nursing, and an M.S. in Nurse Practitioner in Family Health from SUNY Downstate. In 2012, she obtained Board Certification as a Nurse Practitioner in Family Health (FNP-C). Ms. Angustia was inducted into the Nursing Honor Society in 2015, and is an active member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) and the Nurses Association of the Counties of LI (NACLI). In 2023, she was appointed Secretary of NACLI and has represented the organization at major nursing conferences, student outreach events, and community initiatives. Passionate about networking, mentoring, and strategic planning, Ms. Angustia continues to advocate for healthcare equity, professional development, and leadership in nursing. In recognition of her contributions to the nursing profession, she received a Proclamation from Governor Hochul during Nurse Practitioner Week. Her extensive career spans adult general medicine, neonatal intensive care, pediatrics, medically fragile children and adults, community health, and leadership. In her role as Director of Clinical Management, Ms. Cumanda Angustia has collaborated with organizations supporting at-risk Latina youth facing mental health and led toy drives for families in Bronx shelters.
